Gaucho Marks Magazine is now accepting submissions for our 2024 zine! That’s right, YOU can be in our upcoming print edition!

Deadline for submissions is WEDNESDAY MAY 15th! Anyone UCSB-affiliated is welcome to submit.

What is Gaucho Marks?

Gaucho Marks is UCSB’s premier humor publication dedicated to the publication of satirical articles, multimedia, and a biannual print magazine. You can find all of our articles at gauchomarks.com, as well as all of our past zine editions! Theme

This quarter’s zine theme is “End of the World/World Peace”. You can use this as inspiration for your creation, but adherence to the theme is not required.

What we’re looking for

ANYTHING! As long as it’s funny. Articles, poetry, short stories, opinion pieces, news headlines, advertisements, comics, artwork, graphic design, whatever! Check out our past zine editions for inspiration, or to get a better idea of what we’re looking for. Don’t be afraid to submit if your idea hasn’t been done before, we’re open to anything.

You can submit multiple entries, and it is fine if your work has previously been published elsewhere.

Formatting

Submission sizes must be 8.5″x5.5″ (single page) or 8.5″x11″ (double page). If it is not this size, we’ll have to crop/stretch it. Try to leave some blank space around the margins, pages will be trimmed to bleed.

PDF files are preferred! Please format your work how you want it to appear in the zine!

Check out our past zines for formatting ideas. Plain text is boring, try adding an image or two. Maybe do something funky with the paragraph spacing. Spice it up a little!

We will also accept images.

Please make sure they are high quality & high resolution. Images don’t necessarily have to follow the size rule. For example, a small illustration or comic will likely be put on a page with several other illustrations.
